For some years NHS Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has worked with Dovercourt Surgery to provide a Prescription Order Line telephone service for ordering repeat medication. This service was set up as a test service and has only been available to a few volunteer Sheffield general practices and their patients, including our Practice. The CCG has formally looked for an NHS provider to extend the Prescription Order Line to all general practices in the city but unfortunately has been unable to find one that meets the right criteria.
Therefore, as we are unable to provide equal access to this service for all Sheffield patients, the CCG has taken the difficult decision to stop providing the Prescription Order Line to Dovercourt Surgery patients from 30 September 2021.
We understand that this will mean a change to how you can order your repeat medication and we and the CCG would like to know how this will affect you and what support you may need to order your medicines in the future.
Please tell us about how this will impact you by completing this short survey:
Paper copies are available of the survey on request.
Our Prescription telephone ordering services is available to patients every day.
Please phone 0114 2530307 between 10.30 am and 1pm (Mon, Tues, Wed or Fri)
or between 10.30 am and 12 pm on Thursdays.
Patients can also order their prescriptions online, or presenting requests at the Practice with their order forms.
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.
Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
Please allow two full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.
